Disgraced US billionaire financier, Jeffrey Epstein has committed suicide at the Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center where he is being held pending trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Law enforcement officials told newsmen that he was placed on “suicide watch”, but got successful on his second attempt.

Epstein who hanged himself overnight and found dangling by 7:30 a.m on Saturday August 10, was reportedly transported from the jail to New York Downtown Hospital where he was found to be in cardiac arrest at the time of arrival before being confirmed dead.

The 66-year-old accused of arranging to have sex with girls as young as age 14 in the early 2000s at Epstein’s residences in Manhattan and Florida, has been held without bail at the Metropolitan Correctional Center. Though he pleaded not guilty to the charges, a judge said he wouldn’t face trial before June 2020.

Similarly, Epstein’s scientist friend, had disclosed that Esptein dreamed of seeding the human race with his DNA and wanted to run a ‘baby factory’ out of his New Mexico ranch.

Up to 20 women at a time planned to be inseminated with Epstein’s sperm at his ranch outside Santa Fe in a eugenics project, several prominent scientists and an investor who dined with the incarcerated financier told the New York Times. Epstein may have used his infamous dinner parties, which also included “attractive women with impressive academic credentials,” to screen candidates for his baby factory, according to Jaron Lanier, the virtual reality pioneer who attended some of the dinners.
