The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, today petitioned President Buhari to shut the on-going Big Brother Naija Reality show which they say promotes nudity, shamelessness and open promiscuity. Read their petition here.
This has raised a lot of reactions, even hilarious ones, especially from young viewers of the show.
However, a media personnel, Godwin Chidiadi has given reasons via his Facebook handle why the Federal Government cannot suspend the show.
Read what he wrote below.
“I have noticed some persons have again begun collecting signatures calling for a total ban of #BigBrotherNigeria from TV screens. I can tell you for free if you’re one of such persons, IT WON’T HAPPEN!
“Firstly, it’s only shown on Pay TV, and the service providers have a license to broadcast the content which is rated 18, and provides options for parental control.
“Secondly, the Reality Show has won the hearts of many, especially the younger audience, I’m sure we still recall how thousands turned up for the auditions across the country.
“Lastly, the show is money spinning, the hosts and service providers gain millions from TV rights and online viewing, participants also get mind boggling prizes and deals after the show.
“So you can now drop the idea of calling for a ban on BBN”
Meanwhile, see how Nigerians are reacting to MURIC’s call for the suspension of BBNaija.
